February 15 (BTA) - Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko
Borissov on Friday received the highest Serbian state honour,
the Order of the Republic of Serbia, the government information
service in Sofia reported. The distinction was presented to him
by President Aleksandar Vucic during a ceremony in Belgrade. The
event came on Serbia's national day: Statehood Day.

Borissov was honoured for his remarkable contribution to the
promotion of peaceful cooperation and friendly relations between
 the two countries.

He said he accepted the honour on behalf of all Bulgarians who
made great efforts during the Bulgarian Presidency of the
Council of the European Union in the first half of 2018 to put
the European integration of the Western Balkans on the EU
agenda, "all of us who believe that Serbia is an integral part
of Europe and will shortly become a member of the European
Union."

According to the Bulgarian government leader, nothing can be
better than for neighbours to be members of the EU because they
will be able to work together on infrastructure projects,
including railways, motorways and natural gas pipelines, as well
 as tourist exchange.

Borissov said: "I can assure you that no matter how difficult
the world is, no matter how tough our decisions were,
particularly after the wars, I believe and see that Serbia is on
the right track, and there is nothing better than peace and
friendship between nations." RY/VE
