PM Borissov Confers with
US Vice President
Pence in Munich


Munich/Sofia, February 16 (BTA) - Trade relations with the US and the increase in US investments in Bulgaria were on the agenda of the meeting with US Vice President Mike Pence, Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov told reporters in Munich where he participated in the 55th Security Conference. He was quoted by the government information service.

Borissov and Pence also discussed the achievements of Bulgaria's EU Council Presidency in the first half of 2018 and Sofia's position on the situation in Venezuela.

Pence expressed approval of Bulgaria's performance at all levels, singling out the work of its special services.

He said he intended to visit Bulgaria in 2019.

Regarding the Black Sea region, Borissov said the countries should consolidate their efforts, be united in their defence capabilities and increase defence and security spending, but they should also conduct the best possible dialogue with Russia and China. Borissov added that Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev will visit Bulgaria in early March. LN/DD
