106 POLITICS - PARLIAMENT CHAIR - NORTH MACEDONIA - MEETING

Bulgaria to Continue
Supporting North Macedonia's
EU, Euro-Atlantic Integration

Sofia, February 20 (BTA) - Bulgaria will continue its consistent support for North Macedonia's efforts for European and Euro-Atlantic integration, National Assembly Chair Tsveta Karayancheva told North Macedonia's Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi, as quoted by Parliament' press centre on Wednesday. Xhaferi is in Bulgaria to attend Wednesday's parliamentary sitting, during which the National Assembly is expected to ratify the protocol on North Macedonia's accession to NATO.

Karayancheva underscored that Bulgaria has spared no effort to return the Western Balkan countries, particularly the Republic of North Macedonia, on the EU's agenda. This was a priority of the first Bulgarian EU Council Presidency, she recalled.

Xhaferi thanked Bulgaria for its efforts and support for his country's European and Euro-Atlantic integration. "Dialogue and cooperation can lead us forward," he added.

Karayancheva noted that the benefits of the bilateral Treaty of Friendship, Good-neighbourliness and Cooperation are evident. "Sectoral cooperation is increasing and deepening ever more, but we need to work toward a better transport and infrastructure connectivity between the Western Balkan countries," she said, adding that this would contribute to the development of the economies in the region and to the attraction and promotion of investments.

"We must work and move forward in our efforts to provide opportunities for adequate professional realization of young people in our country," the guest said.

Karayancheva said that the National Assembly is ready to share its experience in the EU accession process and would gladly assist North Macedonia's parliamentarians. "It is easier to work and make progress when you have a friend like Bulgaria," Xhaferi underscored.
