to Finalize Negotiations with GERB
on European Elections


Lovech, North Central Bulgaria, March 23 (BTA) - The Union of Democratic Forces (UDF) National Council mandated the party's Chairman Roumen Hristov to finalize the negotiations with GERB and to sign a political agreement on joint entry in the May 26 European Parliament Elections.

UDF MEP candidates can be nominated until March 26, and those definitively selected will be proposed at the final negotiations with GERB on Thursday.

Hristov described the decision to run together in the elections as "a step in the right direction," considering the UDF's and GERB's shared desire to rally right-wing voters behind the European People's Party. He specified that the agreement is limited to the European elections. The GERB-UDF bloc targets winning eight MEP seats. Hristov said that there will be two UDF candidates on the list, of whom one in a position for a safe seat.

The UDF Chairman also said that Vladimir Kissyov had declared that he will stay away from the European election race. LI/LG
