May 20 (BTA) - The traditionally good relations between Bulgaria and Ukraine rest on a solid foundation and have deep roots, Bulgaria Deputy Prime Minister for Economic and Demographic Policy Mariyana Nikolova told Ukraine's newly elected President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during his inauguration ceremony at the Verkhovna Rada (the Ukrainian Parliament) on Monday, the Bulgarian Government's information service reported in a press release.
During the meeting, held at Zelenskyy's invitation, Nikolova voiced her belief in the future positive development of bilateral relations. She also sent Prime Minister Boyko Borissov's congratulations, who wishes Zelenskyy a successful term in office and fruitful joint cooperation and partnership in the interest of the two countries' peoples. President Zelenskyy assured Nikolova that there is full continuity and building upon the existing relations in bilateral political and economic dialogue, as well as the protection of the rights of the Bulgarian national minority in Ukraine. Zelenskyy expressed interest in the development of the tourism exchange between the two countries.
President Zelenskyy's inauguration ceremony was attended by over 100 international delegations, among which were the presidents of Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Georgia, parliament chairs, prime ministers, deputy prime ministers, ministers and other distinguished guests.
After his inauguration, the new Ukrainian President welcomed the heads of the foreign delegations and diplomatic missions in the Mariyinsky Palace. LI/MY
