Sofia, July 5 (BTA) - The Council for Electronic Media (CEM) Friday elected in a 3-2 vote Emil Koshloukov as director general of the Bulgarian National Television (BNT).

So far Koshloukov was BNT's programme director and served as the TV's acting director general after its previous head, Konstantin Kamenarov, was given a 15-month conditional sentence for drunk driving in late April.

Koshloukov ran for the post back in 2017 but the winning candidate was Kamenarov. As a programme director of BNT he hosted a talk show and showed a middle finger during a broadcast which sparked a protest rally demanding his resignation. He later apologized and BNT was fined 3,000 leva.

In the vote on Friday his candidacy was supported by Betina Zhoteva, Rozita Elenova and CEM Chairperson Sofia Vladimiriva. The other two CEM members, Ivo Atanassov and Ivelina Dimitrova, voted in favour of Sasho Yovkov. LN/ZH
