site.btaBulgarian PM Borissov Holds Bilateral Meetings at Caspian Forum

August 12 (BTA) - Bulgarian Prime Minister
Boyko Borissov conferred here on Monday with Iranian First Vice
President Eshaq Jahangiri and with Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla
Aripov within the framework of the First Caspian Economic Forum,
 the Government Information Service said.

Borissov and Jahangiri discussed the advancement of relations
between Bulgaria and Iran. The Prime Minister noted that
bilateral cooperation is promoted on the basis of 122 years of
established diplomatic relations and mutual respect. He shared
his good impression of his visit to Iran in 2016, when he became
 the first Bulgarian head of government to make such a trip in
more than 20 years.

Borissov highlighted the efforts to implement the understandings
 reached at the 19th Session of the Mixed Bulgarian-Iranian
Commission for Economic, Scientific and Technological
Cooperation. He sees these understandings as indicative of
Bulgaria's desire to carry on its cooperation with Iran.   

At his session with Aripov, the Bulgarian Prime Minister
expressed satisfaction with the overall state of bilateral
relations and noted the growth of two-way trade over the last
two years. Borissov sees a potential for more productive
cooperation in trade, the economy and investments.

Borissov is paying a three-day visit to Turkmenistan (August
10-12) at the head of a delegation. As part of the trip, the PM
will participate in the First  Caspian Economic Forum, which is
taking place in Avaza on August 12. The Bulgarian head of
government is expected to confer with Russian Prime Minister
Dmitry Medvedev on Monday. RY/LG
