September 12 (BTA) - For the fourth consecutive year, the
International Improv Festival in Sofia will bring together the
most prominent actors in the genre of improvisation theatre. The
event will take place between September 23 and 29 and will
offer various show formats ranging from the lighthearted and
absurd to dark humor and dramatic improvisation, said event
organizer Zlatin Tsvetkov (founder of ShiZi Improv Theatre).

The chamber stage in the Salza & Smyah Theatre in the capital
will present three of Europe's most popular improv groups, who,
in addition to entertaining with their indisputable theatrical
talent, will also lead 25 workshops on specific improvisation
methods and styles.

The festival program will also showcase professional groups from
12 countries, including the US, UK, Spain, Portugal, France and
Israel. The first two days of the program will feature
performances by the best Bulgarian improv artists, and in the
other four days the focus will be on international guests, who
will present their acts in English.

"The best improv artists in Europe attract viewers worldwide
because they have vast experience and a wide range of ways to
entertain," Tsvetkov said.

On each of the six festival days, people will have the chance to
enjoy 3-hour comedy shows. The actors will create scenes and
entire storylines based only on words provided by the audience,
with no script, no stage decor and no costumes but with lots of
positive energy and humour. RY/DT
