site.btaGDP Per Person Employed in January-March 2020 Up by 2.5 Per Cent from Previous Quarter

June 4 (BTA) - According to preliminary data released by the National Statistical Institute on Thursday, the gross domestic product per person employed in Bulgaria increased by 2.5 per cent in the first quarter of 2020 compared to the same quarter of 2019.

In January-March 2020, the Bulgarian economy employed 3,398,200 people who worked a total of 1,380.4 million hours. Compared with the same quarter of 2019, the structure of employment by economic sector in the first quarter of 2020 showed an increase in the share of services sector.

GDP per person employed was 7,526.1 leva, and GDP per hour worked was 18.5 leva during the period. Gross value added (GVA) per person employed increased in real terms by 2.9 per cent, and GVA per hour worked in real terms increased by 2.8 per cent in the first quarter of 2020 compared to January-March 2019.

GVA per person employed in the industrial sector was 6,897.1 leva, and GVA per hour worked was 16.2 leva, according to preliminary data for the first quarter of 2020.

In the services sector, an average of 6,776.3 leva GVA was produced by person employed, or an average of 16.0 leva GVA per hour worked.

Labour productivity was lowest in the agricultural sector: 932.6 leva GVA per person employed and 3.1 leva per hour worked. RI/LG
