site.btaIndustrial Production Down 6% in July 2020, Y/Y - Statistics

September 10 (BTA) - According to estimates, the
seasonally adjusted Industrial Production Index increased by 2.3
 per cent in July 2020 from June 2020 but fell by 6 per cent
from July 2019, the National Statistical Institute reported on
Thursday.

Compared to June, in July the seasonally adjusted Industrial
Production Index rose by 3.6 per cent in manufacturing and fell
by 9. 3 per cent in mining and quarrying and by 0.1 per cent in
the production and distribution of electricity, gas, steam and
air conditioning. The most significant production increases in
manufacturing was registered in the "Other Not Elsewhere
Classified" category (32 per cent), followed by repair and
installation of machinery and equipment (18.1 per cent),
manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (17.5
per cent), and manufacture of other non-metallic mineral
products (15.2 per cent). Important decreases were seen in the
manufacture of paper and paper products (5 per cent) and in the
manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical
preparations (4.4 per cent).

Year on year, in July 2020 the Industrial Production Index
(after working day adjustment) fell by 9.9 per cent in the
production and distribution of electricity, gas, steam and air
conditioning supply, by 5.7 per cent in manufacturing, and by
3.1 per cent in mining and quarrying. In manufacturing,
considerable decreases from July 2019 were registered in "Other
Not Elsewhere Classified" manufacturing (32.2 per cent), in the
manufacture of tobacco products (28 per cent), in the
manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c. (19.2 per cent),
and in the manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and
semi-trailers (16. 3 per cent) . Major increases were seen in
the manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products (7.6 per
cent), in the manufacture of electrical equipment (7.2 per
cent), in the manufacture of rubber and plastic products (6.4
per cent), and in the manufacture of other transport equipment
