site.btaPrime Minister Borissov Holds Video Conference with Leaders of American Jewish Organizations
Sofia, October 19 (BTA) - Prime Minister Boyko Borissov on 
Monday held a video conference with the leaders of the major 
Jewish organizations in the US within the framework of the 75th 
session of the UN General Assembly, the government information 
service said.
The focus was on the shared agenda for strategic partnership 
between Bulgaria and the US, the fight against anti-Semitism, 
the Bulgarian-Israeli dialogue and UN's key role to 
international peace and security. 
Borissov said: "Bulgaria and the US are allies and strategic 
partners. Bilateral cooperation is very extensive with prospects
 for advancement both bilaterally and within the framework of 
NATO and EU-US relations." The Bulgarian Prime Minister said 
that Bulgaria's close relations with American Jewish 
organizations are a stepping stone for enhancement of bilateral 
dialogue between Sofia and Washington and practical cooperation 
between Bulgaria and Israel.
Borissov expressed gratitude for the US support for Bulgaria's 
efforts to curb the COVID-19 epidemic.
During the conference Borissov shared the concern of the global 
Jewish and international community over the growing 
anti-Semitism amd all forms of fanaticism. He added that the 
Bulgarian institutions and the Jewish community in the country 
continue to carefully monitor the Internet for anti-Semitic 
materials so that prompt measures can be taken.
The Prime Minister also noted the importance which Bulgaria 
attaches to its relations with Israel both bilaterally and from 
the point of view of the peace process in the Middle East.
"This year marks the 30 anniversary of the resumption of 
Bulgarian-Israeli diplomatic relations. We reconfirm our will to
 continue to further develop cooperation with Israel which is 
among Bulgaria's key partners," said Borissov.
Participating in the meeting were the leaders of  the Conference
 of Presidents of the Major American Jewish Organizations, the 
Anti-Defamation League, B'nai B'rith International, the National
 Coalition Supporting Eurasian Jewry, the World Jewish Congress 
and the World Jewish Restitution Organization. NV/PP
