ABV Movement Leader Purvanov: Single Ruling Majority Means Repeating Notorious Strong-arm Policy
Sofia, September 3 (BTA) - ABV Movement leader and former
President (2002-2012) Georgi Purvanov said during a TV broadcast
Wednesday that Bulgaria's having a single ruling majority is
not a good option as it will repeat the notorious strong-arm
policy.
Purvanov also dwelled on the pre-election battle for the October
5 poll, saying that the campaign will be hard and rife in
mud-slinging moves similar to the campaign before the elections
for Bulgarian MEPs in May.
Purvanov reiterated the highlights of ABV's platform:
presidential republic, majority voting system, thrice reduced
party subsidies, progressive taxation, higher incomes and hourly
 pay.
He said that ABV would support and join a coalition, but without
the presence in it of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms
(MRF). "MRF has had its positive role in certain times: at the
start of the transition towards democracy and during the
governance of the three-party coalition [which also included the
Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), whose member Purvanov was at
the time, and the party of Bulgarian ex-monarch Simeon
Saxe-Coburg-Gotha]. However, what we witnessed over the past few
years invites the conclusion that the MRV must sit at the
substitution bench," Purvanov said.
He also commented the candidates list of the BSP which he said
included many people associated with the unsuccessful policy in
the energy sector and the anti-Russian policy. SN /ZH/
