Increase of Tourists
from Zlatograd to Greek Beaches
Smolyan, Southern Bulgaria, September 4 (BTA) - This summer
there has been an increase by around 15 per cent of the tourists
combining a holiday in Zlatograd (Southern Bulgaria) and at the
beaches in Northern Greece, said Alexander Mitoushev, head of a
hotel owners' association and manager of the Ethnographic Area
Complex in Zlatograd.
The number of Bulgarians travelling to the White Sea resorts
does not drop in September, when overnight stays in Greek hotels
cheapen by 20 to 30 per cent. The majority of tourists on the
beaches in Northern Greece are Bulgarians, Mitoushev said.
The tourist packages offering overnight stays in Zlatograd
combined with trips to the Greek coast are sold exceptionally
well, he went on to say. The summer season for the hotel owners
in Zlatograd will continue until the start of October, judging
from the bookings for trips to Northern Greece. In addition to
travelling to Greek beaches, tourists take part in trips to the
cities of Kavala and Xanthi, Mitoushev said.
