November 26 (BTA) - The Counter-Corruption and Unlawfully
Acquired Assets Forfeiture Commission (CCUAA) found conflict of
interest involving the Mayor of the northeastern municipality
of Nikola Kozlevo, Eshref Redzheb (elected for two terms between
 2015 and 2019 and between 2019 and 2023).

The Commission said here on Friday that proceedings were
initiated on an alert by a Government body. The alert contains
statements that the Mayor has spent funds from the municipal
budget on contracts for the supply of food for kindergartens and
other social activities, while the products were purchased from
companies owned by Redzheb's son and in-law. There are also
allegations that municipal funds were allocated to a local
football club, part of whose management is the Mayor's son. A
total of 43,170 leva were spent this way.

In addition to that, Redzheb has signed 110 payable orders
between August 2018 and August 2021, which paid money from the
municipal budget to a company, in which two of his sons were
associates and one was manager. It was established that money
was paid to the Esrefoglu OOD company for foods, drinks,
household products, detergents, etc.

Eshref Redzheb has been fined 10,000 leva. The State has
confiscated his remuneration for those days during which a
conflict of interest was established, as well as the money
received as part of these transactions. The total adds up to
88,864.91 leva. Once CCUAA's decision comes into effect, the
Mayor will be dismissed from his post. RY/MY
