Caretaker Government Reports 30 out of 66 Priorities
Fulfilled after One Month in Office -
PM Bliznashki

Sofia, September 10 (BTA) - A month after it came into office
the caretaker government reported that 30 out of a total of 66
priority tasks have been carried out, Prime Minister Georgi
Bliznashki told a news conference on Wednesday.

Thirty-five tasks are in the process of being carried out. The
Bulgarian National Bank is the leading institution on one of the
tasks - the launch of the procedure on Bulgaria's joining the
Single Supervisory Mechanism, the PM said. A significant portion
of the unfulfilled commitments is related to legislative
initiatives, he added. Bliznashki declared the cabinetТs
intentions to submit a number of revisions after the elections,
including amendments to the Election Code, an update of the
budget and the Act on the Direct Participation of Citizens in
Governance.

The final versions of the operational programmes for the next
programming period will also be ready by end-October. In respect
to the organization and holding of the parliamentary elections,
the Prime Minister reported all the work that has been done in
preparation, including the work of the Citizens' Board for Fair
Elections. In his words, mechanisms to eradicate vote-buying
practices have been established, the first one or two groups
engaged in this have been tracked down and deactivated and
efforts in this direction will continue. The measures for
printing the ballot papers are extremely strict, Bliznashki
said.

The Prime Minister also reported the establishment of an Energy
Board which, he said, is already giving results, the resumed
social dialogue and the timely social payments, as well as the
fact that the school year will begin normally.

Speaking of overcoming the consequences of the floods,
Bliznashki said that so far 16 million leva have been extended
to help the victims. Application forms for two of the regions
have been sent to Brussels from where support exceeding 300
million euro is expected on the basis of these applications.
Assistance will also be sought for the current emergency
situation in Bourgas and Haskovo regions will also be sought.

In turn, Finance Minister Roumen Porozhanov reported that the
indicated shortage for the forthcoming elections is about
600,000 leva but the money will be found. /BR
