Charlie Hebdo Attack is Blow on
Civil Freedoms, Rights

Sofia, January 10 (BTA) - The Association of TV Producers in
Bulgaria sharply condemns the atrocious terrorist act in Paris
in which journalists paid with their lives for the right to
think and express themselves freely, the Association said in a
statement on Friday.

The statement says also that the attack in the offices of the
French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo was not only an
encroachment against the highest value there is, the human life,
but a punitive action against the biggest enemy of
fundamentalism - the freedom of speech. Humour is the denial of
fanaticism, where humour exists, fanaticism cannot, the
statement reads.

The document says also that the attack is a blow on civil rights
and freedoms and targeted the very heart of democracy and the
freedom-loving European spirit. Killing innocents cannot be
justified by any cause or ideology, it says.

The Association of TV Producers in Bulgaria expresses sympathy
with the grief of the relatives and families of the victims and
solidarity with the entire French people. LY /ZH/
