World Opera Stars Sing Wagner in Plovdiv

Sofia, February 18 (BTA) - World opera stars associated with
Wagnerian repertoire, soprano Elisabet Strid, and tenor Daniel
Brenna, will come to Bulgaria for a concert featuring music from
his famous operas "The Flying Dutchman", "Twilight of the
Gods", "The Valkyrie" and "Siegfried". The two-hour concert is
scheduled for 7 p.m. on February 28 and will be hosted by the
City Culture Hall. The event will be held under the baton of
Ivan Angelov, the organizers said.

Strid started her international career in 2010 at the Norwegian
National Opera Oslo as Elisabeth in Stefan Herheim's Tannhaeuser
production.  Since then, she has sung this very role at the
Semperopera Dresden, the Rhine Opera Dusseldorf-Duisburg and at
the Festival in Tampere. She is familiar to the audience in
Plovdiv from the Opera Open summer festival.

Brenna was called "one of the youngest and most convincing
Siegfrieds around" by The Times. In the summer of 2012, Daniel
Brenna made his widely noticed debut as Desportes in Alois
Zimmermann's "Die Soldaten" at the Salzburg Festival. He made
his debut in this role at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich in
2014 and in 2015 at the Scala di Milano. Future engagements
include the State Opera in Prague, the Metropolitan and
Washington Opera.

Maestro Angelov is a welcome conductor at the most prestigious
opera theatres and concert halls across the world.
