Movement 21 Congress Re-elects Tatyana Doncheva as Party Leader

Sofia, February 22 (BTA) - Tatyana Doncheva was re-elected
leader of Movement 21 at a congress of the non-parliamentary
party here on Sunday. The forum also elected a National Council,
an Audit Commission and a Chairperson of the Audit Commission.

"Oligarchic policy-making must be the principal opponent of
Movement 21," Doncheva pointed out, addressing the delegates.
She stressed that "the oligarchic status quo is supported by
both left- and right-wing parties."

She said that Movement 21 prioritizes the nation's health care,
education and culture, but coping with oligarchic dependencies,
in her words, requires before anything else a radical reform of
the judicial system.

"This is a peculiar part of the mechanism of State that helps
cleanse and streamline the functioning of all other spheres. The
change must include constitutional and legal amendments but
should not stop there," said Doncheva, who is a practising
lawyer and a former Left MP.

Doncheva noted that Movement 21 is starting work on forming an
expert team that, within a couple of months, will propose
options for a reform of the judicial system. Politicians,
magistrates, legal practitioners and university faculty members
will be recruited to that team.

Prime Minister and GERB Chairman Boyko Borissov and Sofia Mayor
and GERB Deputy Chair Yordanka Fandakova were among the guests
at the congress. Borissov said that "Movement 21 may be a
governing party tomorrow, which is why a dialogue with them must
 be maintained."

At the latest parliamentary elections on October 5, 2014,
Movement 21 garnered 39,221 votes or 1.195 per cent of the
total.

"Tatyana Doncheva has always been my opponent but, at the same
time, I have always appreciated and respected her opinion," the
PM said.
