Bulgaria, Republic of Korea Presidents Mark 25th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations
Sofia, March 23 (BTA) - Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev and
 the President of the Republic of Korea, Park Geun-hye, 
exchanged congratulatory addresses on the occasion of the 25th 
anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between
 the two countries on March 23, 1990, the press office of the 
head of State said Monday. 
  
Wishing peace and prosperity to the people of Korea, Plevneliev 
pointed out that the establishment of diplomatic relations 
coincided with the beginning of democratic transition in 
Bulgaria. "Today Bulgaria is a member of NATO and the EU, has a 
predictable foreign policy and is a constructive partner in 
international organisations. Bulgaria and the Republic of Korea 
share and work for the establishment of the fundamental values 
of democracy, market economy, the supremacy of law and respect 
for human rights. Korea is a key partner of Bulgaria on 
important global issues, including non-proliferation of weapons 
of mass destruction, climate change, green growth and 
sustainable development," the address says further.
    
In the past 25 years relations between the two countries have 
developed rapidly in a number of key areas ranging from 
political dialogue, trade and investments to science, 
technology, culture and contacts between people. 
   
In turn, President Park has sent Plevneliev and the Bulgarian 
people a message of friendship. She expresses satisfaction that 
the two countries are continuing to develop relations of 
friendship and cooperation in various fields and expresses hope 
for their further advancement.
