National Revenue Agency Checks All Central Print Media

Sofia, August 3 (BTA) - The National Revenue Agency (NRA) has launched checks for tax and social security compliance of all publishers of central print media, NRA sources said on Monday. The checks will cover the period of the last five years.

The checks are prompted by a report on tax risks published in June which showed the presence of a risk for tax evasion by print media. Checks have not been conducted for a long time on many of the publishers who have long-standing overdue payments to the state. The NRA is also preparing a detailed analysis of electronic media, and checks may be conducted on companies managing online media.

The checks have nothing to do with the editorial policy of the publications and are part of routine practices for risk assessment of tax evasion and legal compliance. Since the start of the year the NRA has conducted more than 30,000 checks.
