Government Approves Information Sheet for Referendum on E-Voting
Sofia, September 23 (BTA) - Parliament approved the layout and
content of an information sheet for the October 25 referendum on
remote electronic voting, said the government press office
Wednesday.
In the referendum which is to be held simultaneously with the
local elections, Bulgarians will be asked: "Do you favour the
idea of making remote voting by electronic means possible during
elections and referendums?"
The information sheet will contain the motives for holding a
national referendum and will provide detailed instructions on
the voting procedure.
Eligible to vote are all Bulgarian citizens with voting rights,
who have a permanent residence in Bulgaria as of August 10,
2015, which was when the referendum was scheduled. The
referendum will use the voter registers from the 2014 general
elections.
The voters participating in the referendum will use a separate
ballot with the question and the two possible answers, Yes and
No, written in identical font and font size. The chosen answer
will be ticked or x-ed, put in an envelope and dropped in the
ballot box.
The voting will take place in the same voting section where
Bulgarians will vote for mayors and municipal councilors. Voting
will start at 6 in the morning and end at 7 in the evening.
Overseas voting will take place in voting sections as per the
Bulgarian Elections Code and the applicable legislation of the
respective country.
