Bulgaria's Exports Grow 8% in January-August
Sofia, October 12 (BTA) - Between January and August, Bulgaria's exports totalled 30.3 billion leva, 8 per cent up from the like period of 2014. In August 2015, exports added up to 3.8 billion leva, 1 per cent down from August 2014, show preliminary data of National Statistics Institute.
Between January and August, imports at CIF prices totalled 34 billion leva, or 3.1 per cent up from the like period of 2014. In August 2015, imports decreased by 11.6 per cent year-on-year to 3.8 billion leva.
The January-August period saw a deficit (FOB exports-CIF imports) of 3,772.9 million lev, or 1,213.5 million leva down from the like period of 2014. At FOB/FOB prices (after eliminating transportation and insurance costs) the deficit totalled 1,475.8 million leva.
August saw a trade deficit of 46 million leva (FOB exports-CIF imports). At FOB/FOB prices, there was a surplus of 176.8 million leva.
Between January and July Bulgaria's EU exports increased by 10.1 per year-on-year to 16.8 billion leva, according to preliminary data.
In July 2015, EU exports fell by 0.5 per cent from a year earlier, to 2.6 billion leva.
Between January and July, Bulgaria's EU imports grew by 8.5 per cent from the like period of 2014 to 19.2 billion leva at CIF prices.
In July 2015, Bulgaria's EU imports increased by 12.2 per cent from July 2014 to 3.1 billion leva at CIF prices.
Between January and July 2015, Bulgaria reported a deficit of 2,417.1 million leva (FOB exports-CIF imports). At FOB/FOB prices, the deficit was 1,118.1 million leva.
Between January and August 2015, Bulgaria's exports to third countries increased by 5.3 per cent from the like period of 2014 to 11 billion leva.
In August 2015, Bulgaria's imports from third countries fell by 12.8 per cent year-on-year to 1.3 billion leva.
Between January and August, Bulgaria's imports from third countries fell by 2.8 per cent to 12.5 billion leva (at CIF prices) year-on-year. Russia, Turkey, China and Ukraine were the largest importers. In August 2015, Bulgaria's imports from third countries fell by 21.4 per cent from a year earlier to 1.4 billion leva.
Bulgaria reported a deficit of 1,452.2 million leva (FOB exports-CIF imports) between January and August. AT FOB/FOB prices the deficit totalled 572.2 million leva. In August, Bulgaria's trade with third countries saw a deficit of 142.4 million leva.
