Left-wing Parties Discuss Alternative to PresentGovernment

Sofia, April 3 (BTA) - Eighteen opposition, left and centre-left parties concurred that a change of government was needed at Sunday's forum which discussed whether there is an alternative to the present government, said the press office of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP). The forum was organized by the Alternativa Club.

BSP leader Mihail Mikov said the main alternative to the present government is the State's resumption of its key functions. He said a change was needed to end the debt spiral, find investments to develop the private sector, and increase wages at a rate that will stop the constant labour migration. Mikov said there was a huge inequality in Bulgarian society as capital gained massive ground in the last 15 years.

He said the State should resume solving the serious crises in Bulgaria. Funding for development should be sought from Bulgarian banks instead of abroad. "There are national financial resources but the difference in percentages makes the power holders seek a financial intermediary abroad," he said.
