Bulgarian Socialist Party Signs Cooperation Agreement with Fair Russia Party

Sofia, April 23 (BTA) - Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) Chairman Mihail Mikov and Fair Russia leader Sergey Mironov signed a cooperation agreement between the two parties, the BSP press centre said Saturday.

Mikov paid a two-day visit to Moscow on April 22 and 23.

The cooperation agreement was signed in the presence of Luis Ayala, Secretary General of the Socialist International, of which both the BSP and Fair Russia are members. The ceremony took place within the Programme Forum of the Fair Russia Congress, held on Friday and Saturday.

Prior to the ceremony, the BSP leader held meetings with Ayala and Mironov to discuss the place and role of the socialist and social-democratic parties in today's dynamically changing world.

At the end of his visit to Moscow, Mikov held talks with Mikhail Shchetinin, member of the Council of the Federation Committee on Economic Policy and head of the group for cooperation between the Council of the Federation and the Bulgarian National Assembly. They talked about the opportunities for more active development of the relations between Bulgaria and Russia in the sphere of economy, education and culture.

Mikov acquainted Shchetinin with the BSP's position in favour of the lifting of the sanctions imposed on Russia, including the ban on MP travels in the EU.
