Number of People Employed
in Outsourcing Industry
Is Expected to Grow

Sofia, June 16 (BTA) - Bulgaria's outsourcing industry employs 40,000 people and their number is expected to reach 60,000 by 2020, President Rosen Plevneliev said at the unveiling of the Third Annual Outsourcing Conference in Sofia on Thursday.
The President said that outsourcing is among the fastest developing industries in Bulgaria and that the sector creates prospects and a new horizon. Bulgaria is the third most preferred outsourcing destination globally and ranks first in Europe. In 2014, the industry's annual turnover grew by 13.7 per cent year-on-year.

"Bulgaria's economy is showing signs of maturity and we are creating conditions to develop the industries of the future," said Plevneliev. However, he noted that the issue of skilled personnel is ever more common for the industries of the future in Bulgaria. "Can education reform itself and adapt in such a way that entrepreneurs have a sense that education is on their side and that it produced the employees that they need," asked the head of state.

Sofia's Mayor Yordanka Fandakova said that 91 per cent of the largest outsourcing companies are headquartered in Sofia. According to a survey about the outsourcing industry, English is spoken most by people aged 29-34, with 33 per cent of them living in Sofia. The largest number of speakers with a professional command of German also live in Sofia, said Fandakova. "Sofia has schools which in 18 months turn out new IT employees based on the needs of the business and they should be supported to set an example for other schools," added the Sofia Mayor. PK/PP
