Bulgaria for the Citizens Movement Will not Make Party Nomination for Presidential Candidate

Sofia, July 9 (BTA) - Bulgaria for the Citizens Movement (BCM) will not be nominating party candidates for the presidential elections. "We are looking for a brave Right-wing candidate, who will be nominated by the Reformist Bloc (RB) as a political entity and not by an initiative committee," said Deputy Prime Minister and BCM leader Meglena Kuneva during a meeting with supporters in the northeastern town of Kubrat on Saturday.

According to her, this choice was made by the majority, while her party has always been consensual and cares about the unity within the RB. The Bloc must display unity with the presidential nomination, Kuneva said, adding that an agreement has been reached to have a civil candidate.

RB MP Dimiter Delchev noted that the presidential candidate's profile is that of an Euro-Atlanticist, a patriot, an honest Right-wing and civic-oriented person, with a clear vision about the development of the presidential institution, and committed to fighting corruption. The nominations will be made by the end of July, after which the party leaders will agree on a candidate, he said.
