First Meeting on Priorities of EU Presidency of Estonia-Bulgaria-Austria Troyka Scheduled for September

Sofia, August 4 (BTA) - The first coordination meeting on the priorities of the Estonia-Bulgaria-Austria Troyka of the EU will be held in mid-September. The meeting was scheduled by the teams working on the preparation of the three countries for the rotating Presidency of the European Council, said the press office of Deputy Prime Minister Meglena Kuneva on Thursday.

Kuneva oversees the preparation of the Bulgarian Presidency in the first half of 2018.

The meeting was scheduled the soonest possible after Britain gave up its Presidency and the European Council decided that the order of the rotating presidency will be moved forward by a half-year.

The statement of Kuneva's office recalls that Bulgaria has been working on its priorities since last year. In early January it formulated four tentative priorities: jobs, growth and competitiveness; migration and security; efficient energy union and climate policies; and EU on the global stage. Three working meetings of the UK-Estonia-Bulgaria Troyka were held before the Brexit referendum.
