Expats Call for Proactive Presidential Campaign Abroad
Sofia, October 27 (BTA) - The election campaign for the November 6 presidential elections should be more active among Bulgarians abroad and should involve debates and ideas, expats told BTA.
Media and communications expert Diana Yordanova, who lives in Brussels, says the election campaign among Bulgarians in Belgium is confined to mailing applications to the Central Election Commission to open more voting sections in the smaller towns. The parties should conduct a proactive campaign abroad with meaningful discussions and ideas, she says.
Elena Bojinova, a psychotherapist working and studying in London, is interested in Bulgaria's political scene as a whole and finds the election campaign marked by very poor political culture and disregard for the voters. During this election campaign a representative of just one party invited Bulgarians in London to a meeting.
Rudolf Efremov, who lives in Paris, says two things should be done: provide information about the elections and the referendum, and try to keep in touch with Bulgarians abroad.
Martin Kazakov, who lives in Atlanta, Georgia, will have to vote for two presidents - Bulgarian and American - in three days. In his view, the campaign in Bulgaria is somewhat indifferent, and there is no campaign at all among Bulgarians in the United States.
Elza Lyudmilova, a Bulgarian living in Spain, says she has not seen any election campaign there, though at least some explanations would be welcome.
