Bigger Part of Reformist Bloc to Support Tsacheva-Manoushev Pair in Run-off Elections

Sofia, November 7 (BTA) - The bigger part of the right-wing Reformist Bloc (RB) will support GERB's candidate Tsetska Tsacheva and her running mate Plamen Manoushev at the second round of voting for president next week, Union of Democratic Forces (one of the partners in the RB) Chairman Bozhidar
Loukarski told reporters on Monday after a meeting of RB's Executive Council and talks with Tsacheva and Manoushev at RB's headquarters in Sofia.

The Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB, another partner in the RB) were not present at the meeting but DSB's Peter Moskov, who is Health Minister in the incumbent cabinet, was.

Tsacheva said that "the November 6 election was crucial". "I  find it the most natural thing to be here with the leaders of  the Bulgarian citizens who champion the rightist values and Bulgaria's Euro-Atlantic orientation," Tsacheva said. She stressed once again that if elected, they will be a guarantee for Bulgaria's Euro-Atlantic orientation, which Tsacheva said, goes hand in hand with the modernization of the armed forces.

Tsacheva invited RB's presidential runner, Traicho Traikov, to a meeting, to hear him say whether he will allow for a general supported by the Bulgarian Socialist Party [Roumen Radev] to head the presidential institution and make a turn in the country's Euro-Atlantic orientation.

Tsacheva supports reducing the powers of the prosecutor general and will initiate constitutional amendments to this effect, provided that there is a consensus among the political forces for the necessary qualified majority for this. Tsacheva is also ready to initiate constitutional amendments to reduce Parliament's quota in the Supreme Judicial Council and change its way of work. "Justice means continuing with the reform of the judiciary," Tsacheva told reporters. She also stressed that if elected, she will not delay the promulgation of the anti-corruption law.

Chairperson of the Bulgaria for the Citizens Movement and Deputy Prime Minister Meglena Kuneva said that RB's support for Tsacheva is "natural and stemming from the two formations' membership in the European People's Party".

Speaking to reporters Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov said that he did not want to be governed by Socialists-supported generals and that Bulgaria should move ahead, and not allow to be made to go 20 years back.

Moskov said that "Radev means [former Socialists-backed president Georgi] Purvanov, Purvanov means [Russian President Vladimir] Putin, I have no valid arguments against this choice".Moskov also said that if Radev wins the run-off elections, "apparently, there will be a different government".
