Parliament Cancels Nov. 9-11 Sittings

Sofia, November 9 (BTA) - Parliament will not hold plenary sittings between November 9 and 11 before the second round of the presidential elections on November 13. The MPs adopted the motion of the Reformist Bloc and the Patriotic Front by a vote of 107-14, with three abstentions.

An extraordinary sitting was scheduled for 2 p.m. on November 15.

The Bulgarian Socialist Party was against this break. Leader Kornelia Ninova told the majority that last Sunday "3.5 million Bulgarians said 'we don't like you, we want you to work harder, stop spending so much money on subsidies, and work for our interests'."

GERB Floor Leader Tsvetan Tsvetanov suggested that an extraordinary sitting and extended Question Time be held next Tuesday to avoid populist rhetoric in law making.
