Reformist Bloc Continues Onward without Democrats for Strong Bulgaria
Sofia, November 11 (BTA) - The four remaining parties in the right-wing Reformist Bloc (RB): the Bulgaria for the Citizens Movement, the Union of Democratic Forces, the Bulgarian National Agrarian Union, and the Freedom and Dignity People's Party, have countersigned an agreement expressing their will to continue onward "irrespective of all cataclysms" and without the Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB) which quit the coalition earlier in the week, Union of Democratic Forces (UDF) Bozhidar Loukarski told reporters on Friday after a meeting of RB's Executive Council. Loukarski said that DSB had been invited at the meeting but did not attend it.
The RB is one of the partners in the ruling majority where GERB is the main force.
Bulgaria for the Citizens Movement leader Meglena Kuneva said that the agreement did not have a term but that it was very important for the RB to demonstrate that this is a strong, viable and sustainable project, despite the difficulties within the coalition. Kuneva said that such problems had never questioned RB's goal: a strong right-wing government and strong partnership in the family of the European people's parties.
Kuneva said that the agreement is open for individual membership as well and can be signed by everyone willing to do so in the next three months. Kuneva said that Health Minister Peter Moskov of the DSB will sign the agreement. Former education minister Todor Tanev, a member of the citizen board of the RB, has already signed the document. Kuneva urged members of the DSB to join it too.
Loukarski said that the participants in the Executive Council have reconfirmed their support for the right-wing presidential candidate in Sunday's runoff elections, GERB's Tsetska Tsacheva, and urged RB's supporters to vote for her. In the runoff Tsacheva faces Socialisr-supported runner Rumen Radev.
Kuneva too called for supporting the right-wing candidate. She said the the RB are ready for early general elections.
