Socialist Leader Ninova Nominated for Vice President of Socialist International
Sofia, February 23 (BTA) - Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) leader Kornelia Ninova confirmed her nomination as Vice President of the Socialist International. Ninova said at a news conference on Thursday that she has been invited personally by the organization's Secretary General Luis Ayala. "I accept this as recognition for Bulgaria," the BSP leader commented.
The election will be held at a congress in Colombia from March 2 to 4. Ninova also said that 31 candidates from all continents have been nominated for the position. Participating in the congress will be representatives of 153 political parties. Ninova said that, if elected, she will withstand Bulgarian's interests before the organization.
There have never been a Bulgarian at such a high position in the Socialist International Kroum Zarkov, a member of the BSP Executive Bureau, commented.
