Dolna Mitropoliya Airfield Celebrates 75th Anniversary

Pleven, Northern Bulgaria, April 22 (BTA) - For its 75th anniversary the airfield in Dolna Mitropoliya - a renowned school for air force staff where many prominent people who now hold high position studied, received the honorary badge of the President.

At a ceremony marking the occasion, Air Forces Commander Major General Tsanko Stoikov said that the flying schools and the training centre at the Dolna Mitropoliya airfield have become a model for military aviation education "which has given wings to thousands of Bulgarian pilots".

Distinctions and badges were given to prominent pilots.

Demonstration flights were performed by L-39 ZA and Pilatus aircraft, and light aviation. The visitors were also keen to see a ground exhibition of aircraft and other machines and special devices, weapons, museum exhibits.
