Sofia, December 7 (BTA) - The status of Jerusalem as a holy city of the three monotheistic religions should be negotiated through Israeli-Palestinian peace talks leading to agreement on the final status of the Palestinian Territories, the Foreign Ministry said late on Wednesday.

Any change in the status of Jerusalem which is not achieved through Israeli-Palestinian negotiations could have a negative impact on the efforts to resume the Middle East peace process.

Being an EU Member Status, Bulgaria remains committed to its regional and international partners, including the Middle East Quartet, in support of the efforts to resume the peace talks and find an end-of-conflict solution based on the principle of two states coexisting in peace and security.
