site.btaPilot Maritime Spatial Plan Being Worked Out between Bulgaria and Romania

Sofia, December 26 (BTA) - The Bulgarian Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works is participating in the working out of a pilot maritime spatial plan for the cross-border area between Shabla (Bulgaria) and Mangalia (Romania). This involves the design of a new ship traffic separation system in Bulgaria's territorial waters.

The participants in the project will draw up a comprehensive analysis of Romania's and Bulgaria's territorial waters and adjoining areas. The main goal is to improve and strengthen cross-border cooperation between the two countries in the field of strategic and spatial planning for the Black Sea.

The project is also aimed to build an institutional framework for cross-border maritime spatial planning, share information about the maritime zone, and define a vision and strategic goals for the Black Sea as applicable to maritime spatial planning.
