Sofia, January 10 (BTA) - President Rumen Radev Wednesday received the Chinese scholar and author Gordon Wang, Vice President of the UN Alliance of Civilizations, and stated that "Bulgaria and China have excellent relations and we would like them to develop comprehensively". The meeting was attended by Chinese Ambassador Zhang Haizhou.

Radev stressed that in addition to political and economic cooperation, the two countries should develop relations in culture and education, and that direct contacts between the two peoples should improve.

He said Bulgaria supports and highly appreciates the 16+1 initiatives for cooperation between China and the Central and East European countries, whose summit this year will be held in Sofia. "We believe that if China launches direct air service to Bulgaria, tourist numbers will grow and more Chinese tourists will visit," Radev told Ambassador Zhang.

Prof. Wang expressed his admiration for the potential of the Bulgarian scholars he met.
