Sofia, January 15 (BTA) - Bulgaria praises Montenegro's efforts along the road to EU integration, President Rumen Radev said meeting his Montenegrin counterpart Filip Vujanovic on Monday. Vujanovic started his official visit to Sofia by laying a wreath to the Monument of the Unknown Warrior.
Radev said that it is a pleasure for him to receive the first head of State of a Western Balkan country after Bulgaria took over the rotating EU Presidency. The Bulgarian President described the visit as deeply symbolic. It shows that Bulgaria appreciates Montenegro's efforts for its European integration. Montenegro sets a good example to the Western Balkans of how a country can undertake deep and serious reforms so as to achieve a better future both for itself and for its members, Radev said.
Earlier on Monday Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov met with President Vujanovic, the Cabinet's press service said.
The two discussed the European perspective of the countries of the Western Balkans which is among the priorities of the Bulgarian Presidency of the EU. Bulgaria confirmed its readiness to continue assisting the negotiation process of Montenegro. Regional cooperation also featured on the agenda of the talks. Borissov and Vujanovic were unanimous that the topic of connectivity is highly important for the strengthening of ties and the economic development of the region.
