Sofia, May 7 (BTA) - Bulgarian mountaineer Boyan Petrov was reported missing in Shishapangma in the Tibet Autonomous Region, since May 3, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said. Petrov is part of an eleven-strong expedition also consisting of a Hungarian climber, five Italians and four Nepalese guides.

On Sunday the Bulgarian Embassy in Beijing received information from the Tibet Mountaineering Association that Petrov had been missing since May 3. His absence was noticed in the region of Shishapangma at an altitude of about 7500 m. Three people were sent in search of the climber immediately. On Sunday morning at an altitude of 7350 m they found Petrov's tent and sleeping bag, but he was missing.

Officials of the Tibet Mountaineering Association are in contact with the leader of the expedition who is quoted as saying that the search and rescue continues.

The Bulgarian embassies in Beijing and New Delhi are in constant contact with the local institutions and closely follow the developments
