site.btaPresident Radev Receives Delegation of Constitutional Court of Republic of Macedonia

Sofia, June 4 (BTA) - President Rumen Radev Monday received a delegation of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Macedonia, led by President of the Court Nikola Ivanovski, Radev's press secretariat said.

Radev noted that the partnership between the constitutional courts of Bulgaria and Macedonia is an important step in the development of the bilateral relations in the spirit of the Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighbourliness and Cooperation between the two countries.

Radev said that with the signing of the treaty, Bulgaria and Macedonia provided an example to all countries in the region how the problems may be solved in the name of dialogue and understanding. "It is important to show that the treaty works and that Bulgaria and Macedonia are led by its spirit," he said.

The Bulgarian head of State noted that the Constitutional Court is a guarantor for the rule of law which is one of the key conditions for membership in the EU.

The guest familiarized Radev with the work, competences and powers of the Macedonian Constitutional Court. Ivanovski thanked for Bulgaria's help as a country holding the rotating EU Presidency, especially in respect of the Euro-Atlantic perspective of Macedonia.
