An exhibition was opened in front of the Bulgarian Embassy in Stockholm, presenting Bulgaria's cultural and natural wealth with 26 photographs of popular tourist sites. Among them are the St. Alexander Nevsky cathedral, the Ancient Theatre in Plovdiv, the Rila Monastery, the Belogradchik Rocks, and many other natural and cultural attractions, the Ministry of Tourism said in a press release.
"Bulgaria is a country with an impressive history, rich cultural and historical heritage and unique nature. This exhibition not only showcases its beauty, it also encourages interest in our country as a tourist destination. Such initiatives are part of the Tourism Ministry's strategy to present Bulgaria at emblematic places in European capitals and cities," Tourism Minister Miroslav Borshosh said, adding, "Sweden is an important partner for us and such initiatives strengthen the ties between our countries and reveal Bulgaria's unique spirit," the ministry said.
The initiative is part of a cultural diplomacy project aimed at raising Bulgaria's visibility as an attractive tourist destination, as well as creating a space for promoting Bulgarian culture and tourism around the embassy in the Swedish capital. From the very first day, the exhibition has attracted great interest among passers-by who stop to look at the impressive photographs showcasing the beauty and rich heritage of Bulgaria.
In 2024, in cooperation with the State Institute for Culture, the exhibition "Ancient Treasures of Bulgaria" by the Institute of Balkan Studies with the Centre for Thracology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences also aroused wide interest among the Swedish public.
In May 2025, a new exhibition is planned in front of our Embassy in Stockholm, dedicated to the Bulgarian alphabet and script.
