Bulgarian Consul General in Odesa Svetoslav Ivanov told BTA that school results are good when there synchronicity between Ukrainian state schools, Bulgarian Sunday schools and the mayor of the respective municipality and village. He called this a fundamental principle for the successful education of children.

On October 4 and 5, 2024, Consul Ivanov took part in the opening of three computer classrooms with 32 computers and one information studio, as well as in the celebrations for the beginning of the school year in Bulgarian Sunday schools to the Bulgarian Cultural and Educational Centre in the Bulgarian villages of Vasilevka, Krinichnoe, Kalchevo, Tabaki and Karakurt in the Bolgrad region in Ukraine.

The school vivits were planned a month ago, Ivanov explained, noting that the goal is to visit all around 60 Bulgarian Sunday schools with nearly 8,000 students.
He added that visiting over 30 Sunday schools will provide perspective on which educational establishmements are doing better and which are doing worse.
Ivanov pointed out there are settlements with scarcer financial resources that probably need greater financial support, like the school in the village of Kalchevo, Vasilevska municipality where the children use folk costumes that are over 20 years old.

"We will try to support and provide the children at the Bulgarian Sunday school in Kalchevo with the necessary costumes through some programme that will be launched this year or at the beginning of the next," said Consul Ivanov.

"We realize that the future is in information technologies and at the General Consulate we are trying to secure as many Bulgarian organizations and schools as possible through these support programmes," he added.
