The Scientific Society of Bulgarians in Moldova has provided EUR 24,000 to equip Bulgarian language and history classrooms in four schools in the Taraclia region. The funding was allocated under the Bulgarian Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid programme, the President of the Scientific Society of Bulgarians in Moldova, Ivan Duminika, told BTA on Monday.

Duminika said that the aim of the project is to equip two thematically furnished classrooms in each educational institution where Bulgarian language, literature, history, culture and traditions are taught. These are the Bulgarian lyceums of Olimpii Panov in Taraclia and Tvarditsa village, Paisii Hilendarski in the village of Korten and Hristo Botev in the village of Valea Perjei.

"When I visited these schools in November, I noticed the need for such specialized classrooms. The student should feel the atmosphere, be surrounded by historical maps, images of significant battles, portraits of Bulgarian writers, scientists and historical figures. We will also provide Bulgarian literature, a projector and an interactive board. There will also be a small library with 30 titles," said Duminika.

Duminika and his colleagues from the Moldovan Ministry of Education sent a letter to the Bulgarian government asking for help in setting up the classrooms in the other schools in Taraclia region.

For the success of the project, the Scientific Society of Bulgarians in Moldova has pooled efforts with the Association for the Development of the Bulgarian Community in Moldova and its director Alexander Borimechkov.

November 2024 is the deadline for classrooms’ opening.
