site.btaCultural And Sporting Events With Bulgarian Participation Take Place In Stár Bišnov

An international art workshop for plein-air painting entitled Roots 2 was held from September 4 to 10 in Stár Bišnov, which is home to the oldest Bulgarian community in Romania. The event was organized by the Union of Banat Bulgarians in Romania and the Angel Wings Association based in Serbia, Elena Doicheva-Dragomir of the Bulgarian Union of Banat in Romania told BTA. 

The workshop was attended by artists from Bulgaria, Serbia, Romania, Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Bulgaria was represented by Maria Masleva and Dinko Nenov. The youngest participant in the workshop was a Banat Bulgarian woman from the village of Breştea, Gabriela Slavin, who was awarded the special prize for most original drawing entitled I love Bulgaria of a contest organized by T.A.N.G.R.A. Association.

On September 7, the painters in Stár Bišnov were joined by the veterans from the FC Lokomotiv and FC Strela based in Plovdiv and Oresh, respectively. They returned the visit of the football team Victory – Veterans from Stár Bišnov, which was a special guest of the black and whites in Plovdiv in July, at the personal invitation of Hristo Krusharski.

On September 8, the Hristo Stoichkov Arena in Stár Bišnov hosted a mini football tournament in memory of the long-time coach of FC Victory and physical education teacher Stoyan Viruzab. All three teams took part in the sporting event. 

The week concluded with an official opening of the exhibition Roots 2 on September 10, in one of the halls of the Bulgarian House, which is the headquarters of the Union of Banat Bulgarians in Stár Bišnov.
