Folk dance groups "Ralitsa" (Freiburg) and "Ludo Mlado" (Heidelberg) will jointly perform the choreography "Love" at the the traveling festival Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance in Munich (May 15–17).
Inspired by this year's theme, the dance tells the story of a young couple whose love faces family opposition but ultimately prevails through perseverance and respect. The performance blends rhythms from Northern, Dobrudzha and Thracian folklore traditions.
The joint appearance will bring together around 30 dancers from both groups, despite the challenge of rehearsing separately in different cities. Organizers say the performance aims to convey a clear message: to follow one's heart and stand by personal choices, while respecting those of others.
The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance travelling festival is organized by and for amateur folklore ensembles performing outside Bulgaria. The initiative was launched by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the first edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025. More than 100 dance ensembles and over 4,000 guests are expected at the 11th edition in Munich in May. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is the official media partner of the event and will present all participants.
