"We can be proud of Bulgarian Antarctic research," the head of the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute, Christo Pimpirev, sent a video address to the public on the occasion of the second issue of LIK magazine dedicated to Antarctica. His address focuses on the Ice Continent and initially chronicled the historic voyage of the Bulgarian naval research vessel Sv. Sv. Kiril i Metodii (RSV 421) to the Antarctic region and back.

He said that LIK’s second issue on the subject turns to the world of science, spotlighting the Bulgarian team's significant scientific projects and accomplishments in Antarctica. Pimpirev recognized the contribution of RSV 421, which not only assisted in logistical tasks but also played a vital role in scientific endeavours.

Pimpirev highlighted the pivotal role Antarctica holds globally, a view echoed by all 29 advisory member nations. He stressed the significance of scientific research, backed by logistical operations, in molding a substantial geopolitical landscape.

Speaking of the efforts of other countries to bolster their fleet and prepare research projects, he highlighted the substantial investment all Antarctic nations make in maintaining their presence in Antarctica.

Pimpirev voiced his pride in Bulgaria being one of the 29 nations that significantly shape Antarctica's direction and future, standing shoulder to shoulder with the world's leading powers. In his words, this accomplishment is a testament to the nation's dedication to scientific research and its influence on international affairs.
