site.btaGeneral Government’s Gross External Debt Up by EUR 4.4 Bln in September Y/Y
Bulgaria’s gross external debt amounted to EUR 48,084.5 million (48% of GDP) at end-September 2024, said the Bulgarian National Bank on Friday. It grew by EUR 4,785.8
million (11.1%) from September 2023.
Short-term liabilities equalled EUR 8,798.9 million (18.3% of the total debt, 8.8% of GDP), growing by EUR 543.7 million (6.6%) from end-September 2023. Long-term liabilities totalled EUR 39,285.6 million (81.7% of the total debt, 39.2% of GDP) at end-September 2024, growing by EUR 4,242.1 million (12.1%) from September 2023.
General government’s gross external debt totalled EUR 13,584.7 million (13.6% of GDP) at end-September 2024, growing by EUR 4,415.3 million (48.2%) year-on-year.
The external liabilities of the central bank stood at EUR 1,992.4 million (2% of GDP), down by EUR 106.4 million (5.1%) from end-September 2023.
The external liabilities of other MFIs totalled EUR 7,499.4 million (7.5% of GDP), growing by EUR 856.1 million (12.9%).
Other sectors’ external debt equalled EUR 11,820.1 million (11.8% of GDP), down by EUR 15.6 million (0.1%) from a year earlier.
