National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova and Council of Rectors Chair Miglena Temelkova discussed the challenges facing the higher education system in Bulgaria and the interaction between Parliament and the Council of Rectors, the parliamentary press centre reported on Friday.

Kiselova noted that as a university lecturer she is well aware of the problems of higher education and the needs for reforms in this area. The development of higher education should be among the priorities in the work of the 51st National Assembly, she pointed out and added that there should be a sustainable state policy that is not affected by the frequent changes in government.

Temelkova congratulated Kiselova on her election as Chair of the National Assembly. She noted that changes related to the financing of the system are necessary. Temelkova expressed confidence that Kiselova will contribute to good cooperation between the legislative institution and the Council of Rectors, as well as to the adoption of legislative solutions to pressing issues of higher education.
