"The Central Election Commission (CEC) will comply with the task assigned by the Constitutional Court, using as a basis the reports showing the results of the check conducted by the court and complying with the provisions of the Election Code," CEC Spokesperson Rositsa Mateva said here on Thursday, quoted by the Commission in a press release. She specified that the Constitutional Court ruling does not require from CEC a recount of ballots.

On Thursday, CEC voted unanimously to approach Information Services PLC about the company's readiness to enter the relevant data and make the calculations required by the Court.

By a ruling date February 26, the Constitutional Court, tasked CEC with carrying out a nationwide recalculation of the actual votes cast for the parties and coalitions in the October 27, 2024 parliamentary elections. The ruling was issued in a constitutional case instituted on five petitions by MPs challenging the legitimacy of the elections.

On Wednesday CEC received a letter from the Constitutional Court enclosing the ruling and reports in paper form and as electronic files, showing the results of an expert check of election stationery as ordered by the Court.

"CEC will reliably safe-keep the materials provided by the Constitutional Court and will use them solely and exclusively for complying with the Court's ruling," CEC Chairperson Kameliya Neykova said.
