International Bulgarian Studies' Readings for students, PhD students and postdocs will be held online on Friday at the Melitopol State Pedagogical University in Ukraine.
The readings are being held for the ninth time, Dr Krasimira Koleva, linguist and lecturer at the Centre for Bulgarian Studies at the university, told BTA. She noted that the idea for the readings was hers, adding that at the beginning students and PhD students came from all over Ukraine, while students from Bulgaria took part online. She pointed out that the format expanded and now postdoctoral students are also actively involved.
"The readings cannot be held in person, because the Melitopol University has been working online since the beginning of the war. It was evacuated to Zaporozhye, and the educational activity takes place entirely online. There are, of course, students from some specialties who study in laboratories that are in multipurpose shelters," she emphasized.
The programme of the readings includes nine speeches and the presentations of over 40 scientific reports. The participants are predominantly doctoral students, Koleva said. She pointed out that she had not seen any other conference after each a 10-minute discussion is held. This is useful for young researchers, students and PhD students.
Koleva emphasized that participants have the possibility to publish their works in the Dzyalo magazine for humanities and sources in the field of Bulgarian Studies, which allows them to grow.
The readings are organized by the Centre for Bulgarian Studies at the Melitopol State Pedagogical University, with the support of the Shumen University, the Bulgarian Embassy in Ukraine, the Ukrainian Embassy in Bulgaria, the Bulgarian National Radio and the e-magazine for humanitarian studies and sources in the field of Bulgarian Studies Dzyalo.
