The bills to amend the tax laws will not be tabled in the Council of Ministers on Wednesday; that will happen once the 51st National Assembly is formed, caretaker Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Lyudmila Petkova said here on Monday. She was speaking at an extraordinary meeting of the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation, where the bills to amend four tax laws were presented.

The laws in question are the Corporate Income Tax Act, the Income Taxes on Natural Persons Act , the Value Added Tax Act, and the Excise Duties and Tax Warehouses Act.

If these bills are tabled in the 50th National Assembly and are not voted on, everything gets archived and has to be tabled again. There is enough time, Petkova explained. Also, some measures and expenditure related to the 2025 State Budget Act will be discussed, she noted.

On principle, the tax bills are supported with the exception of three main measures, Petkova summarized the discussion at the Tripartite Council meeting. In her words, there is no support for the declaring of material reserves and long-term assets.
